It's the 1930's in outback Australia. Three young Aboriginal girls - sisters Molly (Everlyn Sampi) and Daisy (Tianna Sansbury) and their cousin Gracie (Laura Monagham) are snatched from their mothers' arms in Jigalong, Western Australia and sent to a remote settlement at Moore River. 1500 miles away from home, distanced from their mothers and forced to adapt to a strange new world, the girls attempt the impossible and embark on a daring escape. What ensues is an epic journy across an unforgiving landscape that will test the girls' very will to survive. Their only resources - tenacity, determination, ingenuity and each other. Their one hope - find the rabbit-proof fence that might just guide them home.

A real tear jerker this movie will have you reaching for the tissues. this movie is so well put together with an outstanding soundtrack and fab acting. A real peice of art that carries a touching story. I would hapily add this one to my colection. A brilliant movie and highly recomended. five stars for me
this was a pretty moving story about some young aboriginal girls, who are part of the cleansing of australia thing, when the white people came. at times it is a bit boring, and sometimes a bit hard to understand, but nevertheless this is a must see to really understand what life was like for all those poor aboriginals. this is a classic.
This was a fantastic and moving film which left a tear in my eye and the end. This film demonstrated what the human can do when determined, and tells the shocking truth about how the aborigines were treated by the white population. The acting was fantastic. See this film. 5 out of 5 stars!
Rabbit Proof Fence is an incredibly moving and touching story. The cinematography is inventive, the soundtrack amazing, and both perfectly complement the storyline. While there are some subtleties which may go unnoticed by some, the story is engrossing enough to ensure that this does not detract from the quality of the movie.
This movie is well worth many views.
I loved this inspiring tale of courage and determination. Even after being taken away from their home, these girls still find the courage to escape their white captors and find their way home along the rabbit proof fence. Many people groan at the retelling of any aboriginal story, but I loved this...it even went over my mothers head, but with a little understanding of the stolen generation you too will find this story inspiring.
Taken from their mother, these caucasian/aboriginal children are placed in care, in what can only be described as a eugenics nightmare. From here, the children trace and follow their way back home using a rabbit proof fence. Its a testament to their family love that they should have survived such a tough journey, and a tragedy that they should have faced it in the first place. This Noyce production is commendable, both socially and artistically.
Powerful Australian drama that tackles the tricky subject of the stolen generation through the amzing heart wrenching story of young sisters who run away from the orphange and follow the rabbit proof fence through the desert to their home. The story is gruelling but sensitively told and incredibly resonant.
