In a world without justice, one man was chosen to protect the innocent. There is a legend that when a soul can't rest, a crow can bring that soul back from the dead, to seek justice and make the wrong things right... In the film which cost him his life, martial arts phenomenon Brandon Lee stars as a superhuman mystical hero who returns from the grave to exact revenge on the killers of his fiancee and himself. With mind-numbing effects, awesome action and a dark, cyber-punk setting which leaves BATMAN for dead, it's no wonder THE CROW has been described as a pulsating and hypotic fantasy that will leave you gasping.

The idea of vengeance against those that do us wrong is a driving force in cinema. But most of the time we get a horribly predictable movie that follows a set formula. And then there is The Crow. In its own, stylized way, The Crow puts to rest all those other vigilante movies, and creates a new form, one that leaves the viewer pleased, and never disappoints.
Since the first time I saw this movie, which was about the time The Crow: City of Angels was released into the theaters, I was fascinated by the look of this "Gothic tale of unrequited love and the scorn of a soul burdened by the torment of great loss." I had only seen the movie once, on HBO, but fell in love with the story. I never really got around to renting it, but if I saw it on the program schedule, I would set time aside to watch it.
Now that I am older, and I own the first three (The Crow, The Crow: City of Angels, The Crow: Salvation) I have been able to view it and truly grasp the masterpiece in its entire form. From the soundtrack, to the pop culture references, and even the references in pop culture. It shows the true greatness of comics that become great movies (Sin City and Hellboy being two others.) The story and the acting are terrific and the all out vengeful nature of Eric Dravin is what captures my attention the most.
Let's not forget the plethora of colorful characters with the "jolly pirate nicknames." From Tin-Tin to T-Bird, Skank to Funboy, and (my personal favorite) Top Dollar. The charismatic villains and the even more charismatic hero (anti-hero to be exact) truly shine in this masterpiece.
However, this movie is also very tragic. It would be the last movie Brandon Lee would ever make. He was killed in an accident while filming. Like his character, he was to be wed to his fiancé in just three weeks after filming was to be wrapped up. He follows the mysterious death of his father, the martial arts legend Bruce Lee.
All tragedies aside, one of the greatest movies ever made. Followed by an "all right" sequel and then two more, "less than mediocre" sequels after that, the original stands true. The best "Crow" movie out there. The original, the best, The Crow.
The Crow is an iconic gothic thriller love story about a man who once killed, gets brought back to life to seek vengence on those who murdered himand his girlfriend. Starring Jason Lee, who was tragically killed on set, The Crow is a powerful emotional film that has sadly been made into countless sequels and TV shows. If you've seen the others and not this one, then forget all about what you have seen and start your opinion from scratch. A must have.
People once believed that when you died, a crow took your soul to the land of the dead.....but sometimes, just sometimes, the crow could bring that soul back, to make the wrong things right..." Eric Draven and Shelly Websyter were engaged to be married on October 31.....they were brutally murdered the night before. A year later, the Crow brings Eric's soul back to seek vengeance and earn his eternal rest.
Classic! One of my favourite movies of all time! 5 STARS – No DVD collection is complete without this title amongst it. Powerful performances, superb production value with strong clear direction… a masterpiece. A must see for all movie fans, some might not agree with me but this film with live on for many years after the actors have all but been forgotten!!21
As other reviewers have said this is a great action film with good atmosphere but unfortunately this is also an inferior quality "budget" DVD. The picture is ok at best, the audio is severely disappointing and there are no extras worth speaking of but it doesn't look like they will be releasing a special edition any time soon so this seems to be our only option.
Personally i think this movie is fantastic. It should not have 41/2 stars.I think it should have 5.I know they have made many crow movies. But this is one of those kinds of movies that you can not make sequel for.It could never be compaired to any movie.the action the romance but also the tradgedy.Only certain movies can have that emotion that when you watch it,it affects you.It was also tradgic that Brandon Lee died while making this movie. It is and amazing film. And i recomand that you give it a 5.
A well-crafted movie, a must see for all fans of dark action genre. This gothic style action, staring the late Brandon Lee, who plays a musician brought back to this world by a crow, as a vengeful incarnation seeking out those who were responsible for his love’s death and bringing them to justice.
This film is so amazing, I can't remember how many times I've seen it. You don't have to be interested in a particular genre of film to watch it, because there is something for everyone in this film. Romance, action, gory bits, humour, drama- you name it, The Crow has it. The tragic circumstances surrounding this film and Brandon Lee also add to it's allure.
The best movie of Brandon Lee and it really showed the potential that Brandon was to reach if he had lived. The guy may not have been as good a martial artist as his father Bruce, but his acting was very good and charismatic. The movie itself is pretty decent with great music and that evil dude with the voice like he’s had a glass of draino? He’s a cool villain. Classic.
This is sort of like an extremely brutal version of the matrix. Although it does hold similarities to other movies, the story line is very original and unique. The Crow is an action packed movie that will have you glued to the tv screen. Not one for the weak stomached as it does get quite gruesome at times.
