Extras series 2 is another great addition in Ricky Gervais resume, although it does have some problems. I found, most probably evident due to the fact of many guest stars featuring, that alot of the cast tried to be too Ricky Gervais/David Brent-like in their performances, whereas in the Office the likes of Pam and Garreth were their own character. Its a small annoyance and the series is still utterly brilliant television

The second, and potentially superior, season of Ricky Gervais' excellent follow-up to The Office takes the story of Andy Millman, "Background Artist", to all new heights. A superb satire of the media, wrapped up in a heart-warming comedy, and loaded with A-list guest stars, Extras is one of the finest shows of the past decade. Amongst season two's guest stars, are Sir Ian McKellan, Daniel Radcliffe, Dame Diana Rigg, Chris Martin, David Bowie, Robert Lindsay, Orlando Bloom, Jonathan Ross and Robert De Niro. But it's the regular cast, including Stephen Merchant's useless agent and Ashley Jensen's amicable companion, as well as Barry from Eastenders, that stay at the heart of this brilliant show.
