Join the misadventures of the nefarious and hilarious Edmund Blackadder on his riotous romp through history.
The legacy of laughter begins in the Dark Ages with Black Adder I. Next stop, in Black Adder II, is England’s Golden Age of the 1600’s. Hysteria reigns in 18th century England in Black Adder III, and finally, the family lineage is called to the front in World War I in Black Adder Goes Forth.

S Baldrick, Stephen Fry as General Sir Anthony Hogmanay Melchett, Hugh Laurie as Lt The Hon George Calthurst St Barleigh, Tim McInnerny as Capt Kevin Darling. The Western Front 1917. Ummm. . . how to be diplomatic about this.
Was a purchase for my husband, who assured me it was funny. I found out after purchase that he had never actually seen it, but had HEARD that it was funny! Black Adder is not to my taste in the slightest. It is a very strange sort of 'funny', perhaps droll is more the word. I highly recommend that, if you don't remember Black Adder clearly, perhaps purchase only the first series, as I am now only half way through the first series, and not looking forward to the next three. Sigh. . .
Having said that, I am sure that there are many Black Adder fans out there for whom a box set is ideal.
Rowan Atkinson is an exceptional actor and comedian as seen in the multi-faceted role of Black Adder. This historical satire is at its best - including the Elizabethan times and especially, World War One, not to mention the outlandish predicaments of Prince George (Hugh Laurie) and the side-kick, Baldrick. Each series captures the elements of its time and highlights the various aspects of human nature as experienced by Black Adder. The only unfortunate part of the Series is that it ended with Series 4 - it's ashame it didn't have an additional series, or two.
I love this Series. This is so good. A really good old classic. You really should buy this if you love love love comedy. with the famous and wonderful Rowan Atkinson this absolutly completes the comedy. You should really buy this if you love comedy or Rowan Atkinson. Really great. dfj

this tv series is such a good show!1 and so now that it has come out in a dvd set...woooaahh thats even better! if you were a fan of this show, or if you still are then i one hundred percent think that you should go out and buy this!
"Blackadder" rates alongside "Fawlty Towers" and "Only fools and horses" as the all time best of English comedy-Rowan Atkinson is an absolute genius. The last episode of the last series about the first world war will forever stay in my mind as one of the most poignant and effective ways of denouncing the futility of war: an effective teaching tool for young people. This is a 'must' for the collectors of comedy DVDs.
one of the best of british comedy. full of fun and laughs this tv series would be one you would love to own. i would recommend this to people who like british comedy s well as fans of the show little britain. this is great value for money as you will be getting a lot og laughs in return!
Hugely popular due to its comedy, Blackadder is one of the best comedy series to have come out of the UK. Before Mr Bean Rowan Atkinson played Blackadder, a snake of a man depicted in four different eras of time. Always trying to get ahead, he often ends up in situations threatening his very life. Highly addictive, now is the perfect time to pick up every episode of Blackadder.
blackadder is crazy! it stars rowan atkinson of mr bean fame, in a role as like a servant to hugh laurie. he is quite mean, old blackadder, but a real hoot at that. another funny character in this is hugh laurie, who is quite dumb. i love the ep when they hire the actors, and blackadder antagonises them by sayin macbeth all the time. a good watch for the whole fam!
