The sleeper hit of 1965, CAT BALLOU was declared an instant classic when its sly blend of Western parody and rapid-fire action hit the screen. Lee Marvin won an Oscar® for Best Actor for his dual role as noseless (it got bit off in a fight) gunslinger Tim Strawn and as Kid Shelleen, the woozy, boozy has-been who goes up against him. Jane Fonda co-stars asCatherine Cat Ballou, the schoolmarm- turned-outlaw who teams up with the Kid. Singer Nat King Cole and comedian Stubby Kaye also appear, singing the title song, The Ballad of Cat Ballou. This wild and wooly adventure is the ultimate American spoof of the American Western. Synopsis
Lee Marvin won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in his dual role as both Tim Strawn, a noseless (I got it bit off in a fight) gunslinger, and as Kid Shelleen, the drunken has-been who goes up against Strawn at high noon. Jane Fonda, at the height of her sex-kitten period, stars as Catherine Cat Ballou, the schoolmarm-turned-outlaw who teams with Kid to protect her fathers ranch from a greedy railroad tycoon. Beloved by critics and one of the biggest box office hits of 1965, CAT BALLOU is a marvellous spoof of Westerns - a precursor to films like PAINT YOUR WAGGON, BLAZING SADDLES and other send-ups of the genre, and a one-of-a-kind comic classic thanks to the sure hand of director Elliot Silverstein.

AWESOME 1965 comedy - western film with Jane Fonda cute in the titular role, and Lee Marvin just BRILLIANT in the oduble role of the drunkard Kid Shelleen Strawn, a.k.a Silvernose, for which he won a best acting oscar, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe... the Greek chorus / wandering minstrels Stubby Kaye and Nat "King" Cole chime in regularly to sing the ballad of Cat Ballou... superb...
