Christmas episode of the ITV costume drama. It's 1919, and preparations for a lavish Christmas party at Downton Abbey are under way. The general atmosphere, however, is tense, as Bates (Brendan Coyle)'s arrest threatens to mar proceedings. Meanwhile, Mary (Michelle Dockery) is forced to reconsider her future with Sir Richard Carlisle (Iain Glen) after an incident at the shooting party, while Cora, Countess of Grantham (Elizabeth McGovern), makes a shocking discovery.

A thoroughly enjoyable viewing was had by all the family. Certain loose ends were taken care of, and the continued high standard of acting brought a satisfying conclusion to the second series. I can highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of period drama.
