In their 1998 Oscar nominated roles, Emily Watson and Rachel Griffiths star in the compelling true story of the musically-gifted DuPre sisters and the unique and powerful relationship that bound them together.
Jacqueline DuPre (Emily Watson) was one of the greatest cellists of the 20th century, a consummate performer who dazzled audiences around the world with the unconventional passion and beauty of her music. Her sister, Hilary (Rachel Griffiths), was a talented flautist who, by contrast, chose to live the simple life - she married, had a family and moved to the country. In spite of their differences they shared common emotions - including jealousy. As Jackie struggled with her rapid rise to fame, her journey would have incredible and devastating consequences on both her and her sister's lives.

SynopsisThe touching and tragic real life story of brilliant, international concert cellist Jacqueline Du Pr (Emily Watson) as seen by her sister Hilary (Rachel Griffiths) and brother Piers (Rupert Penry-Jones). From their early life together as musicians, flautist Hilary was the one in demand until their mother Iris (Celia Imrie) scolded Jacqueline that if she wanted to be with her sister she must become as good as her.
To Jacqueline's debut performance in the Wigmore Hall, London following which she is presented with the Stradivarius Davidoff by an unknown benefactor. Following a wedding appearance in Italy the lives of Hilary and Jacqueline separated as Hilary returned to London and her flute studies whilst Jacqueline embarked on her international concert career. In London Hilary marries Kiffer Finzi (David Morrissey) and starts a family whilst Jacqueline meets and marries conductor Daniel Barenboim (James Frain). | Run Time: | 115 minutes
