Lincoln Six-Echo is running for his life - a life he knows little about except for two things. One: Authorities at the tightly controlled facility that sheltered him said he would someday live in the paradise that is Earth's last inhabitable place. Two: It was all a lie. Ewan McGregor is Lincoln Six-Echo and Scarlet Johansson is Jordan Two-Delta, scrambling to elude deadly pursuers in an outside world they've never before experienced. Michael Bay directs, delivering high tech excitement as he peels back layers of mystery surrounding the fugitives. The sights dazzle. The pace thrills. The story, set in 2019, probes a jolting, palpably real future shock. "You've been chosen. The island awaits you".

this movie is actually a remake of a not that well known movie, unfortunately the director hasnt really made any improvements over the b movie original as this is rather bland. A great cast, tonnes of special effects and massive budget dont make this an interesting film. Stay away i say there are much better films out there
The Island tells the story of a future world where wealthy citizens have the option to have themselves cloned in order to insure they have a guaranteed matching source for organs, blood, or any other replacement body parts that may be needed. While this sounds like a great medical advancement in theory, the reality is the "insurance policies" of these affluent people are actual living, breathing, and feeling human beings who have to be murdered in order for the original person to have their replacement body part. The clones are deceived into believing they are being held away due to a worldwide contamination. The only other uncontaminated place is known as the Island, and periodically one or several of the clones will "win" a lottery ticket to go to this island. In actuality, they are being killed for their organs. When two of the clones escape and learn the truth of their situation, they attempt to free the others and tell everyone they can about the conspiracy while being hunted down by those in charge at the Utopian facility from which they came.
Very very interesting story which had be guessing that this film was set in the future, right up until they broke out, which was a nice twist to this film. Based upon clones raised as spare parts for their real owners, these clones find out the truth and struggle to break their breathern free. Good action scenes and nice slick stunts.
When i first watched this movie i was not a fan. But then i watched it again and found it to been very interesting. About the future and the wealty people have health insurance. And the helath Insurance is clones of themsealves. The clones think they win the jackpost and are going to this beautiful place but what they are really geting is body harvesti. Good movie.

A rather interesting film, it was well thought out and extremely creative, especially when adding the idea of cloning human beings to use them as parts for the real person. Strange how people can think up a story like this one. It was absolutly intreiging and it was a movie that every time i watch it i remember or find out something that i didn't see before. Its a movie that i watch continuously. Its packed with action and adventure, and leads you on a path of discovery. I really enjoy watching this one. And its great to own on dvd.
The Island is a movie with a lot of potential. If you're just looking for an adventure movie, go for it. If you're drawn to the philosophy of the storyline you'll probably be a bit disappointed, as the issues of conscience get lost in the shoot outs. Still, it's a good movie with a fabulous cast including the wonderful Sean Bean
Raises some interesting issues about cloning etc.. but then i can see some holes in the idea of this. Acting was good, not the best but ok and the story line is good enough to keep you interested while your confused trying to work out whats goin on.. and then you do. Pretty good, you might not want to watch it more than once but its ok.
a very interesting concept, and a fairly good movie over all. how ever, it has become increasingly clear to me, although i hate to admit it, that scarlett johannson can not act. she is beautiful though, and i respect her for bringing a healthy body image in to the industry, but she was not good in this film
this movie was allright i suppose not a good as i though it would be all it is about is that they are breed for their organs for the rich people. I didnt get right to the end of the movie found it very boring and over rated. An all right casting not the gratest much needed work i reckon. Would give this movie out of 10 well a sad and very poor 3. Would not recommend this movie.
