Good looking, fit and fifty something, Judge John Deed is no ordinary High Court Judge.
He has made it to the top of his profession on his own terms. Fearless and independent, he regularly crosses establishment figures, men like his former father in law< Lord Justice of Appeal Channing, his ex wife's fiance the Home Secretary, or Sir Ian Rochester at the Lord Chancellors office, all who try to influence his decisions.
His uncompromising approach to justice finds him flying in the face of convention, confronting corruption and taking on the establishment especially pompous new president, Sir Monty Legover Everard and string pulling civil servant Sir Ian Rochester.
Deed's other challenge is to find the root of his problem with women. A confirmed womaniser, he already finds himself in court with his ex wife and his sometimes lover Jo Mills. Can therapy help the judge deal with his attitude towards women?

This was an excellent series in all respects. Good stories, great acting, excellent characterisation, top quality production work. We are long-time fans of Martin Shaw, who seldom disappoints. I'm not sure how many series were produced (there are only two available here) but I do hope the BBC is going to do more, though I suspect not. Not everything coming from the BBC these days is of this quality (it typifies the sort of thing we could once ALWAYS expect from the BBC) and this is an enormous shame.
