One of Jim Carreys best at its time, and introducing Cameron Diaz, the Mask is a family friendly film about a nobody who finds a magical mask that turns him into his alter ego; a cartoony crazy character, who gets caught up in all sorts of mischief. Fans of the sequel and other Jim Carrey films should enjoy this.

This movie is great, I must have been what 10 when i saw this for the first time hence why i found it so funny i guess, i saw it last year and i dont doubt momnets of it ere miles over the top but its a family movie that kids love, other bits are great, jim carrey rules at doing over the top roles

Stanley Ipkiss is a bank clerk that is an incredibly nice man. Unfortunately, he is too nice for his own good and is a pushover when it comes to confrontations. After one of the worst days of his life, he finds a mask that depicts Loki, the Norse night god of mischief. Now, when he puts it on, he becomes his inner, self: a cartoony romantic wild man. However, a small time crime boss, Dorian Tyrel, comes across this character dubbed "The Mask" by the media. After Ipkiss's alter ego indirectly kills his friend in crime, Tyrel now wants this green-faced goon destroyed.

i hated this movie, mostly because, like some other reviewers, jim carey is a little too intense in his acting for my liking. i watched this with a young child and the fact that a mysterious mask can change a man's personality and meld it self in his face scared the bee jubas out of us both. not recommended for young kids

if their is one actor who scares the pants off me it is jim carrey. i know he is supposed to be a comedian but some times it feels like he is so intense in his attempt to be funny he is actally very pycho killer like. no better movie to exhibit this than the mask, worth a watch to see the vein pop

I felt this was a great performance on the part of Jim Carrey, but the plot lacked for me. One shouldn't expect reality in a Carrey film, but it would have been nice to have seen this done a little more sensably. The plot is there, and boils down to make a point but I guess this really just isn't my cup of tea. This production was very well done with great visual effects, good acting, casting and a lot of comedy. The real hero of this film, is of course the dog who gives an academy award performance. I think he might have actually stolen the lead from Carrey on this one. Not a very thought provoking film, but funny and entertaining. I recommend it to anyone who loves outlandish, far-fetched comedy.

Sssssssssssssmokin'.... Jim Carey is great as Stanley Ipkiss, a mild mannered bank teller who, through the use of a tribal mask, is transformed into a cartoonish, green faced, smooth dressin' wise crackin' crime fighter.... the dog is great... and the first time Cameron diaz turns up? Va - va -voom... A whole lot of fun in this comedy aimed at the whole family...

If you like dancing, gangsters, shoot outs, bomb threats, the mask has it all. Almost believable this film is an absolute triumph. Cameron Diaz makes her transition from model to actress in this stunning film. It is action packed with the jokes continually rolling. This is not to be missed and will be the perfect addition to any DVD collection.

How can anyone go past one of Jim Careys movies? He is great in this film, as well as all of his others and he leads a fantastic cast. The story line is a little extravagant but the cast pull it off well turning it into a side splitting comedy that all of the family can enjoy. a must have for your dvd collection

This movie got Jim Carrey out there and noticed, and Cameron Diaz as well, and now they're both superstars. The idea behind having a guy turn into his most popular persona by putting on a special mask turns out to be pretty fun to watch with a lot of laughs. It gets a bit annoying at times but is still pretty enjoyable.
