This movie is a bit like a cross between "The Castle" and a typical "chick flick". A wonderful story of the "terrible" Muriel and her desperate wish for only one thing - to be married. The movie follows the sad yet comical story of her close family, her love of ABBA and yearning to be accepted by the It Girls from her school days. The outstanding performances of Toni Collette (as Muriel) and Rachel Griffiths in the days before they were well known Hollywood actresses make this a must see.
if you are an austarlian then would have seen this movie - numerous times. but whats wrong with that? it is truly a great australian movie that you can watch time and time again. it is great for fans of austarlian movies, toni collette, or of the super pop group ABBA - as it has many of their great songs.
