Must Love Dogs brings together two romantic comedy all-stars, Diane Lane (Under the Tuscan Sun) and John Cusack (American’s Sweethearts, Serendipity), in a wonderful romantic comedy that will have hearts fluttering and tails wagging. Pretty pre-school teacher Sarah Nolan (Diane Lane) is divorced, demoralized and dateless – until her sister posts her profile at perfectmatch.com. Now she has lots of dates…with weirdos, weepers, lechers, jocks – and Jake (John Cusack), a soulful boat builder whose idea of true love comes straight out of Doctor Zhivago. Jake is attractive, smart and maybe a bit too intense. So Sarah passes him by and perhaps passes up her one real chance for love?
Synopsis
Must Love Dogs tells the story of Sarah Nolan (Diane Lane), a newly divorced woman cautiously rediscovering romance with the enthusiastic but often misguided help of her well-meaning family. As she braves a series of hilarious disastrous mismatches and first dates, Sarah begins to trust her own instincts again and learns that. no matter what, it's never a good idea to give up on love.
This movie is charming.
I don't think I had seen either actor in anything, but they were both great.
It's nice to see a movie with slightly older actors. There are some hilarious moments and it's very up to date (for wont of a better phrase) with the net dating. You will laugh at the condom search (but it's not lewd).
I hope you love Must Love Dogs!
A lovely adult movie. Both actors are believable and the dog is sooo cute! An interesting concept with laughs along the way. It is certainly original - there are not many movie featuring two divorced people. The boat thing is strange but very human - people do have weird hobbies! Her family always amuse me. Definately recommend.
Looking for a good love story to watch and cuddle up with that special someone than this might be it. It is a sweet love storie about one girl who is reeching a certain age and has not got a guy in her life, so her sister puts an add on an internet dating site and it says that the guy must love dogs.
this is pretty much your typical romantic comedy aimed at adults rather than teens. stars the sweetheart john cusack, who plays this role so well, with his heartfelt nature and genuine good personality. i watched this film for him, and while in some parts it bored me, i never got sick of watching john!!
his is a movie with a slow begining, a slow middle, and a predictable end, but then most romantic comedies are. If you are looking for some entertainment that is family friendly, that doesn't have any ridiculous car chases, no mindless desruction of property, no drugs, no gross scenes, and some relatively chaste sex, then this is a movie for you. I liked it, my wife liked it, and it was worth the time on a cold snowy evening. It ends (predictably) happily and I for one am really tired of seeing death, destruction, dysfunction, drugs, and profanity. I did think they could have had more dogs, which I think would have added to the film and made the slowness a little more tolerable.
Must Love Dogs is a sweet natured roamtic comedy about a woman still hung up after her partner left her. Her sisters set her up with an online dating add and she begins going out. Her dates include her own father and mr. right who seems like mr. wrong. Sure its slight but its appealing and the cast is excellent.
