It's 1914. Rudyard Kipling (David Haig from Four Weddings And A Funeral), the British Empire's greatest supporter, is at the peak of his literary fame. Kipling's son, Jack (Daniel Radcliffe from the Harry Potter films), is determined to play his part in the imminent war with Germany, but finds himself rejected due to his extremely poor eyesight. When his father uses his influence to land Jack a commission in the Irish Guards, Kiplings wife, Caroline (Kim Cattrall from Sex And The City), is bitterly upset, failing to see the glory in losing her only son to the war.
As Jack leaves for war, Kipling consoles himself with the thought that if his son should die, it will have been his finest hour. But how would the great writer justify the consequences of his actions to himself and his wife? And how would he live with the conflict between his two greatest passions: a love for his family and a devotion to King and Country?

Excellent movie. I watched this on tv a few months ago and stayed up til very late despite being tired just to watch this. Very gripping story with a superb performances by an amazing cast. Daniel has not been seen in many movies other than Harry Potter, but this one makes it clear that he has true acting ability and can play different characters. Carey Mulligan is a relative newcomer but has made her mark with films such as Northanger Abbey and An Education, not to mention her debut film Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley. She is an actress to watch in the future, and gives a wonderful performance in this film as well. You will not regret buying this movie. Very highly recommended.
my boy jack was in my opinion a good movie that I thought was well written with a well thought out story line and a believable plot.The level of acting in this movie was of a good standard with all lines delivered in a well timed manner and it was this and the story lines as well as the interesting characters which made this movie enjoyable to watch.
If you enjoy a well made movie I think you will enjoy this movie and as such is recommended by me.
