This is the type of movie that people instantly judge because of it's popularity. Teen movies have always been considered awful by a lot of critics and a lot of movie fans. Several people are annoyed to death by teen movies and dislike the overused stereotypes that they contain. Is it that annoyance that created this movie? Most people would say it isn't, and that it's just another reason to make another blockbuster teen movie. Personally, I think we'll never know.
What I know is that I went to my usual trip to the video store and picked three random movies without looking what they were. One of them were "Not another teen movie". I was expecting something horrible, but it wasn't so horrible after all.
I think the reason why people complained so much about this movie is that it appears to be a teen movie itself. It's very clear that the movie is made for young people who have seen the popular 80's and 90's movies. It is a parody, but certain people will tell you that it makes fun of certain classics that don't deserve this treatement. Also, they left out many other obviously bad 80's teen movies. Also.. Yes, it has bathroom humor. Yes, it has a lot of sex-related jokes.. And yes, it's full of actresses in their late 20's with big boobs pretending to be teenagers.
However, I think this movie's purpose is of course NOT to be intellectual and to bash movies in a smart way. It's just meant to be funny and entertaining. Even though some of the jokes are very vulgar, it is a funny movie and it does make fun of the most popular stereotypes that you can find in teen movies.
One of the better teen comedies out there for the fact that it spoofs other teen flicks. The plot has been done countless times before, but works in a comedy format. The best thing about this film is that a lot of the jokes are subtle, hiding in the background where you have to keep an eye or ear out to spot them, and it doesn't rely so much on toilet humour to keep it afloat.
While not as good as Scary Movie, Not Another Teen Movie does a good enough job of sending up recent teen romantic comedies while also including plenty of nods to when teen movies were watchable, back in the 1980s. The best thing about the film is the soundtrack, which features current alternative bands covering classic 80s songs (like Manson doing Soft Cell, Stabbing Westward doing New Order). In fact, you should buy the soundtrack regardless of whether or not you like the film.
Helariosu movie, if oyu didnt like movies like date movie then dont be discouraged form this onem, its a great spoof mobie about all of the teen movies around from the breakfast club to american pie to american beauty, and it has alot fo funny orignal stufff in their too
this is a pretty average movie, it is really similar to all others out there, which i guess is the point. i cant really remember much about this movie, as there was nothing really memorable about it, due to it being like every other movie out there. if you are a teen movie buff then you will probably like it though.
This spoof is full of slapstick comedy that makes it worth watching just for a laugh. It is full of stereotypes and I think this is what makes it so funny is that there is no pretence and no holds barred in the comedy coming through. It is the ultimate teenage movie and is a great one to watch if you feel like watching something for a laugh with no particular storyline.
First off I’m not a fan of the Scary movie and other similar spoofs. This one though just had me laughing my head off. It just works because all those teen school movies just needed to be taken apart and this is the movie that does all those things. There are some corny bits that go a bit funny but overall it’s a really funny film.
haha this is really funny. it is so true about other movies though and this is what i liked . they made this really well and i was well entertained. they characters are just like characters in other teen movies but these ones were so much cooler. this rocked, really funny
This is a pretty funny rip on the teen movie genre, I think all ages could appreciate this. Maybe not one you would want to watch repeatedly, but you would probably watch it enough times that its worth buying. I would give it 1 1/2 thumbs up, its a good bit of lighthearted fun
