A moving love story and a family drama, Nowhere In Africa traces the story of Walter and Jettel Redlich, a successful lawyer and his beautiful, elegant wife, whose lives are transformed when they leave their comfortable home in Nazi Germany with their young daughter and flee to Kenya in 1938.
Walter finds employment managing the farm of a short-tempered British colonial and summons his wife and daughter to join him. While Jettel experiences tremendous cultural and economic shock in adapting to the African landscape, her young daughter Regina immediately begins to blossom, learning the local language and finding a good friend in the family's cook, Owuor. While the war rages on the other side of the world, the trio's relationships to their foreign environment become increasingly complex as Jettel grows more self-assured and Walter more haunted by the life they left behind. As the family eventually learns to cherish their life in Africa, they also endeavour to find a way back to each other.
Based on a true story, Nowhere In Africa is a remarkable and uplifting tale of the resilience of the human spirit.

Nowhere in Africa is a German film, and the story is told in the backdrop of World War 2. A Jewish family decided to emigrate to Africa in order to escape from Nazi wrath. Trying to settle in Africa for a German family was a task horribly difficult, and lead the family into strange vicissitudes of life that they could never have expected. Just before the family was on the verge of being shattered, fortune lead them to peace once again.
