The payoff is excitement when Mel Gibson portrays hard-boiled Porter in Payback, a fast, frequently funny and ecstatically twisted blend of action and noir atmosphere co-written and directed by Brian Helgeland, Acadmey Award winner for L.A. Confidential. Porter makes his living outside the law. So when his partners in a heist rip off his $70,000 share and leave him for dead, there's only one way for Porter to settle things; his way. And that sends him on a vendetta that will have a lot of lowlifes gaping at the talking end of Porter's fat revolver. Crooked cops. Street gangs. Spineless flyspecks. Crime bosses. Anyone and everyone standing between Porter and his 70 grand are going to know he's back...with a vengeance.
This is one of the earliiest action movies i remember seeing and it is still a classic i watch on sky movies every chance i get, its an excelent movie by mel gibson and quite afew funny bits like when he asks a guy a question, he says F**k you and so mel gibson goes wrong answer and rips a piercing out, very funny movie
Ill advised remake of the seminal sixties classic Point Blank about a taciturn criminal who is double crossed by his partner and wife and left for dead. He is not very happy and goes all out for revenge with a stony face and very few words. Mel Gibson is bad choice for the role immortalised by Lee Marvin. And although the movie does try hard it just doesn't live up to its inspiration.
