This is THE ultimate Jane Austen. It is a classic masterpiece. Jane Austen's wicked sense of humour is captured superbly. Everything about the series is beautiful - even the ingratiating, simpering Mr Collins has a certain...appeal. But nothing is surpassed by Colin Firth's portrayal of Mr Darcy - particularly when he smoulderingly emerges from the lake, with his soaking wet and transparent white pirate shirt clinging to his manly torso...Colin Firth IS Mr Darcy and I have no doubt that Miss Austen would agree whole heartedly. You WILL watch this again and again and again and be delighted every single time.

Absolutely LOVE P&P and watch it at least every 5 - 6 weeks and never ever get tired of it ~ havent seen the "original" with Garson or Olivier. Watch it once and you 2 will get hooked....

Oh my - this is the BEST love story ever written and ever portrayed in a television series. If you love Austen, you will love this adaptation with Colin Firth as the contemptuous and dashing Mr Darcy and Jennifer Ehle as the perfect Lizzy. Their attraction for each other is so defining yet restrained. Its a series you can watch in it's entirety and then play your favourite scenes over and over! Well done BBC for creating a true representation of this classic love story!

Great mini-series, good adaptation of classic and popular Jane Austen romance novel. It has most of the story from the book (unlike some adaptations where a lot is left out) and really captures the essence of it. Millions of women think Colin Firth is just the right actor to portray Mr Darcy! This series also has lovely costumes, nice music, beautiful scenery, it's very appealing overall. Remastered stuff is good because it's usually noticeably better quality.

This is a must for the purest of english liturature. Is so well done and directed,a real keep sake and the lessons learnt from human nature.
The acting senery and costumes are superb. Have watch it three times a each time pick up something more and understand the story line even better.
Would have no hesitation to recommend this to anyone.
Thanks for the reproduction for my enjoyment.

A timeless story of love and family and how misunderstandings and the desire to form judgements about people can keep us from finding what we want. The BBC version gets everything right with a perfect portrayal of Darcy and Elizabeth as two people whose own actions get in the way of their attraction for one another.
