It's the 1930's in outback Australia. Three young Aboriginal girls - sisters Molly (Everlyn Sampi) and Daisy (Tianna Sansbury) and their cousin Gracie (Laura Monaghan) are snatched from their mothers' arms in Jigalong, Western Australia and sent to a remote settlement at Moore River, 1500 miles away from home, distanced from their mothers and forced to adapt to a strange new world. The girls attempt the impossible and embark on a daring escape. What ensues is an epic journey across an unforgiving landscape that will test the girls' very will to survive. Their only resources - tenacity, determination, ingenuity and each other. Their one hope - find the rabbit-proof fence that might just guide them home.

I watched this film for 4 years straight for English. It retells the story of sisters who walked the rabbit proof fence. A great gift for anyone. It teaches everyone about what the aboriginals used to go through and the struggles they had to overcome. The main characters tell their own stories throughout the movie.

THis is a quietly superb film, containing three of the best child performances I have ever seen. In fact they are so natural you do not think of them as performances as well. The story of three children walking 1500km across the Australian outback to get home is wonderfully told, superbly shot and Peter Gabriel's soundtrack is excellent. And be sure to read the closing title cards where you'll discover something even more amazing about these little girls.
