I didn't think I'd enjoy this series a single bit - purely because it's set in space and sci fi generally bores me. However, seeing how I bought this for my boyfriend (his favourite television series as a kid), I was somewhat obligated to watch it with him. And I must say, it was quite a surprise.
There isn't too much jargon which was a good start. And the cat is a real show-stealer! My only complaint is that it was a bit hard for me to catch what the actors were saying (my fault for being unable to decipher the accents) but the storylines were portrayed well enough that it wasn't too much of a problem if I missed random bits of conversation.
I really enjoyed the first season and I can't wait to see more of the series!

Very clever indeed! Except for the fact that Kryten does not actually appear in this series till the second season. Nevertheless this is the first series in television cult classic. The space adventures of a misfit trio -Lister the remaining human survivor of the space vessel Red Dwarf, Cat the vain and self absorbed evolved feline and Rimmer the snobbish hologram.
Apparently made on a shoestring budget but still garnering a huge audience and fanbase from it's very outrageously British humour. This first series shows us the demise of the Red Dwarf former crew accept for the crogenically frozen Lister.
Together with Cat and Rimmer, the oddball crew traipse from one space misadventure to another.
Very smart and funny.
