Captain Ivan Danko (Arnold Schwarzenegger) nicknamed "Iron Jaw" is a ruthless cop who heads Moscow's homicide division. He is sent to Chicago to pick up a Russian drug-dealer, arrested on a minor traffic violation. In Chicago, Danko is assigned to partner with Detective Art Ridzik (James Belushi), a wisecracking, plain clothesman notorious for cutting corners.Different people from different cultures, Danko and Ridzik work closely together and develop a unique relationship laced with humour and respect. The chase leads them into a world of international drug trafficking controlled from within the walls of Statesville Prison and puts Ridzik in conflict with his superior, Commander Donnelly (Peter Boyle), as the two renegade cops alternate police procedure "Russian Style" with Ridzik's free-enterprising techniques.
The Austrian Oak near the height of his game paired up with the wise cracking Jim Belushi as an unorthodox Chicago cop as a buddy-buddy pair who hate each other's guts? This should have been gold, but for some reason it falls short. The pair seek to bring a villain named Rostavilli to justice. At times exciting and funny, it's a fun action rental, but that's about it...
this is a really fun movie that even a number of Arnold fans may have let slip by. Its still pretty much just your typical Schwarzenegger action movie combined with your typical John Belushi comedic movie, but it works. The bad guys seem evil and the buddy cop partnership between Belushi and Arnold is great, Arnold does some really great acting here also
