Entertaining movie worth seeing for Robert Downey Jnr's performance at least. the guy just can't seem to go wrong these days. The story itself is fairly banal and none of the other characters are particularly engaging. Admitedly I'm not really a Holmes fan but I do think this is a different interesting take on the character, nothing like the portrayals you would have seen before. He did seem a bit like Tony Stark though. hmmm. As for the blu ray, picture quality is good but not reference. It does have a blu ray only special feature called mamximum movie mode where while the movie plays from time to time either a PIP window will appear with some short featurette or the director appears with two screens behind him one with the movie the other with behind the scenes footage. Personally I hate this fad, the in and out PIP stuff is just distracting, give a commentary track that plays throughout instead.

Sherlock Holmes was great!!! It had comedy and action mixed really well. I liked Sherlock Holmes, as he had a curious wit about him, and he was always getting himself into a spin, not thinking straight. Doctor Watson was great too. His serious personality helped set Holmes straight, and that, combined with plenty of action and thrills, was the perfect combination for the movie.
