Jeremy Brett's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes leaves the recent Robert Downey Jr. portrayal far behind. Brett is simply stunning in his complex characterisation, particularly a delight for those familiar with the opiginal stories. Lavishly made, with close attention to historical details, these episodes make for repeat viweing. My particular favourite in this volume is "The Copper Beeches", a wonderfully gothic tale introducing Natasha Richardson.
