Jeremy Brett's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes leaves the recent Robert Downey Jr. portrayal far behind. Brett is simply stunning in his complex characterisation, particularly a delight for those familiar with the opiginal stories. Lavishly made, with close attention to historical details, these episodes make for repeat viweing. A highlight is the rather art-house and gothic direction of "The Eligible Bachelor."
