Starring two of Australia's leading comic actors Paul Hogan (Crocodile Dundee) and Michael Caton (The Castle), Strange Bedfellows, tells the hilarious and heart warming story of two very straight country blokes who, out of financial desperation, declare themselves a gay couple to exploit a new tax legislation.
When a tenacious tax inspector, played by the internationally renowned Pete Postlethwaite (In the Name of the Father), is sent to verfiy their authenticity, all hell breaks loose in the once sleepy township of Yackandandah as the blokes are suddenly forced to pose openly as a 'loving gay couple' in a town that knows them as anything but!
This is a Region 4 disc, the local region for Australia.

The concept for Strange Bedfellows is actually quite similar to that of a handful of French films (The Closet, La Cage Aux Folle), as the quintessential Australian men Paul Hogan and Michael Caton pretend to be a gay couple to get some extra tax breaks. Funny in parts, but fairly predictable - still, fans of Australian comedy should enjoy this.
Hilarious film about to tax evading aussie blocks who scheme to claim back tax by pretending that they have been a gay couple for years. two fo australia's best comic actors Paul Hogan and Michael Caton team up for this laugh a minute small town comedy. Very very funny, highly recommendable for a great evening's entertainment.
I think this movie is absolutely hilarious!!
The way they play off each other with the humour is brilliant and soooo funny when they are trying to be gay. They just look so absurb being the kind of guys they are. Needless to say the idea that two old friends are gay spreads through the small community like wildfire.
Perfect for a great laugh! And you aren't going to be offended like other movies. Watch it!!
Paul Hogan and Michael Caton star in this rather wacky Australian film. It's actually not a bad watch unlike most it's hard to say, Aussie films. The two characters, to get themselves out of financial difficulty, have to act as if they are 'partners' - makes for some humour and drama.
