Ben Affleck is ready for action, commanding the role of CIA agent Jack Ryan in this thrilling adventure based on the Tom Clancy bestseller. America's Cold War fears are rekindled after the President of Russia dies and is succeeded by a man with a cryptic past. But East-West tensions erupt when the CIA suspects that renegade Russian scientists are developing more nuclear weapons. Mobilised into action by CIA Director William Cabot (Morgan Freeman), Jack Ryan (Affleck) follows a danger-ridden trail to a shocking conclusion: terrorists plan to provoke a war between the U.S. and Russia - by detonating a nuclear bomb at a championship football game! Co-starring James Cromwell and Liev Schreiber, The Sum Of All Fears adds up to the year's most explosive entertainment.

When the president of Russia suddenly dies, a man whose politics are virtually unknown succeeds him. The change in political leaders sparks paranoia among American CIA officials, so CIA director Bill Cabot recruits a young analyst to supply insight and advice on the situation. Then the unthinkable happens: a nuclear bomb explodes in a U.S. city, and America is quick to blame the Russians.
Meh. This is one to pass up given the chance. Ben Affleck is such a terrible actor and this is another flick showcasing his lack of talent. Morgan Freeman is a great actor and it's a shame when the good ones do a bad movie with a crappy costar.
I found this to be a very exciting and entertaining movie. The story is thrilling and very well-conceived. The special effects are very good as well. The attack on the American aircraft carrier was one of my favorite sequences of the film. Morgan Freeman, Ben Affleck, and James Cromwell give fine performances. Although I appreciated Affleck's effort, I still think Alec Baldwin ("The Hunt for Red October") and Harrison Ford ("Patriot Games") did a better job as Jack Ryan.
I recommend this very good movie. Although I haven't read the book yet, I plan to soon to see how well the movie compares to it. If you're a fan of techno-thrillers, then don't miss this one.
This is ok, nothing great, not the worst, definitly not ben aflleks best movie nor is it morgan freemans best movie neither (if that sentance made sense). it has its moments but all round its really and average movie so i wouldnt highly recomend it, but its worth a watch
