Swing Time is a popular favourite among Fred and Ginger fans and it well deserves this recognition. The film boasts a great score from Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields which includes Just the Way You Look Tonight, Pick Yourself Up and A Fine Romance among other songs. There are several special dances in the film with perhaps the most poignant one being the ironically titled Never Gonna Dance. The scene culminates into a point where Fred and Ginger glide simultaneously up two adjoining staircases, which according to the behind the scenes information, resulted in many a take. The film's plot is quite similar to earlier Fred and Ginger film narratives involving mistaken identities of sorts. Built nicely around this story is the music and dances (which often makes references to earlier moments in the narrative), Fred and Ginger's adorable verbal bantering and the comedic relief courtesy of Helen Broderick and Victor Moore.
