Don't be put off by the fact that a British show is being set in America - it does itself very well. Torchwood no longer exists - not in the records, at least. But two members survive, one sporting a brand new baby and the other sporting a brand new mortality. Captain Jack and his best friend and colleague Gwen Cooper team up to try and solve what has been called 'Miracle Day' - the day everyone stopped dying. With them are two rogue CIA agents hiding out in abandoned buildings, trying to figure out how to stop it all. Oh, and there's a pedophile on death row, but he doesn't seem to care.
