"Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family..." This is the story of Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) and his so-called friends - a bunch of losers, liars, psychos, thieves and junkies.
Hilarious but harrowing, Danny Boyle's Trainspotting charts the disintegration of their friendship as they proceed seemingly towards self-destruction. Mark alone has the insight and opportunities to escape his fate - but then again does he really want to "choose life"? Trainspotting is here released as a features-packed double disc DVD, with a collectors booklet and poster.

Although I found this film a little disturbing at times, it's very well written & very well acted with some very black, but very funny scenes.
This is definitely not a film for those who are easily offended. It's raw, & very gritty, & the characters are really grotty with no regard for anyone but themselves. All they're soncerned with, is where their next hit will come from.
If you've ever been curious about how the poorer drug-addicts live then this is a must-see.
Excellent, very clever movie. It isn’t just about drugs, it’s about life. The only thing close to a criticism that I can think of is that Sick-Boy (my favourite character from the book) was such a minor character. However, the characters of Renton, Spud and Begbie were performed perfectly by the actors. I can watch this movie again and again.
This film is gritty and dirty. There is content which is not pleasant, swearing and violence amounts other things. What else would you expect a film about drug addiction to be about? Well more than that actually, it about choices and what you Choose! Never at any point did this film make drugs look at all appealing to me in any way, I never did understand why so many people thought that it did. At no point did it ever say "Look at this, its cool." For those who think the level of swearing in this film is too much then they clearly haven't spent any time with working class people in Britain, not just Scotland. I being one of them can say its fairly accurate in that account. That being said, those things do not take anything away from the film, the quality of plot and story, or the acting which is Stunning! Robert Carlise as Begbe was excellent, and Ewan MacGregor shined.
A great movie to show your kids the effects of drugs, definitely a turn off to the seedy underbelly of drug culture in Scotland, If you've read the book in its thick scottish brogue, ye cannae help but poot yerrsellf in chiiirrricter. And the movie does this justice, There are a few things that are a little different, however the main things stay the same. Hands up who doesn't cringe when he brings the soiled sheets to the breakfast table, only to have the entire contents flung over the breakfast table.
Awesome awesome movie! One of most truly adorded movies. Really graphic and funny, a light humoured look at what drug addiction will drive people to do. Graphic scenes can def make you squirmish and laugh out loud. It follows the lives of a group of friends mixed up in the london scene.
eek i really dont like this movie. it didnt really appeal to me to begin with, as the whole london drug scene only serves to creep me out. i will say that they made the whole thing look really realistic, i was actually a bit scared in some of the scenes, such as the one where he kinda trips out alone and the baby crawls!
