An awesome movie - blew me away. Denzel Washington is absolutely fantastic as Alonzo Harris a narcotics cop who seems to have lost sight of what's right and wrong. Ethan Hawke as the rookie cop is a good support.
A movie that quite honestly floored me. The acting in this movie is of such a high caliber that everything else seems to fall away. The unlikely hood of alot of action sequences kind of dissapear into the back of the mind. Denzel is good very good, and ethan hawke is surprisingly good as the rookie cop, if you haven't seen this movie than i urge you to see it as its one of the better grittier action movies of the last ten years.
i can see why denzel washing ton won a best actor academy award for his role in this movie. training day is a griity, terrifying look in to a world where cops have become worse than the criminals they pursue. it is only ethan hawke's character's first day on the job, and already he sees that some thing is terribly, terribly wrong..
There's non-stop action and non-stop violence in this remarkable police story as the big bad narcotics cop, played by Denzel Washington, trains a rookie, played by Ethan Hawke, as to the ways of the street. Set it Los Angeles, the audience visits the hoods of the gangs as these two cops experience more activity in this one day than most cops experience in a lifetime. Young Ethan Hawke is shocked over and over again as Denzel not only doesn't play by the book, but turns from simply being streetwise into an exaggerated symbol of the baddest of the bad. And, even after the film goes to such extremes that reality is completely lost, I was still riveted to my seat as I experienced the wildest, most violent police drama I've ever seen.
Denzel is mean, hard and evil in this one and it’s a damn site refreshing to see him play a role like this. I was really into this movies just to see an actor of his caliber who usually plays good guy roles just let loose. The rest of the plot was okay, nothing really different, it just presented an opportunity for Denzel to do his stuff. Ethan Hawke was okay too. A good movie!
