An excellent series, even if youve read the books, this dvd series is still excellent altho the Character of Damon is even darker in the books, great suspense, mystery, themes of romance, danger, mythology and power. Each dvd has summary of the past epiosdes at the beginning of each new episode, all are well structured episodes with cliffhanger endings, so watching them becomes quite addictive as you must find out what happens next!
Great cast, and development of the main characters, and setting of "Mystic Falls",even the house where the Salvator brothers reside is dark and gothic, the movies are well paced, and mostly follow the storylines of the books, although not in as much detail. The flashbacks of the Salvator brothers to 1863 are excelent with Elena in gorgeous dresses of the era and the Salvator brothers dashing and (Damon) menacing at the same time. Well set scenes at the college and bar, peopled with beleivable characers such as werewolves and witches.Good special effects and very entertaining, even if you havent read the books, the plot is so well set out in each episode you'll not miss out on anything. Ian Sommerhalder as Damon is well cast and a standout,(he origionally tried out for true blood) as hes menacing yet charismatic, Paul Wesley as Stefan is very buffed, and a good mesh with Nina Dobrev, a soulful eyed beauty as Elena. I love it, I warn you its quite addictive!!
