When police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) wakes from a coma to find the world in the grip of a zombie epidemic, he joins a small encampment on the outskirts of Atlanta, where a small band of human survivors struggles to withstand the terrifying advances of the walking dead. Episodes are: 'Days Gone Bye', 'Guts', 'Tell It to the Frogs', 'Vatos', 'Wildfire' and 'TS-19'.

The Walking Dead is based on the ongoing comic book of the same name. Like the comic, the television series is a hit and miss affair. On the surface the premise is a winner - a group of survivors battle the odds against zombie hordes and attempt to make a new life for themselves within an apocalyptic wasteland. It's the sort of story you'd want to tune into each week. 'Dead Set' set the bar high for the TV zombie genre, and unfortunately The Walking Dead just doesn't quite reach the same heights (even with a higher budget and famous Hollywood director Frank Darabont at the helm).
A second series has already been filmed, so one can only hope that it will elevate this great concept out of it's first season's mediocrity.
