The seventh season of "The X-Files" is considered by many fans to be the beginning of the show's downfall, and I certainly agree that it is not up to the standard of the previous seasons. Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) emerge out the other side of a global conspiracy to find they have little left to fight, and that the world no longer seems to care as much. This season lacks direction for the most part, and also - without almost any of the usual supporting characters - feels much more like it did at the start: two people investigating crimes, only now they are a whole lot wackier. There are several good episodes, and the end of the season picks up a lot, but this isn't up to the standard of previous seasons. Thankfully there are some standard extras this time, and I still like this show, but it's getting a bit unusual in its old age.
