Posted by admin on March 18, 2011 at 5:22 pm Ha-ha. What a great story! I can picture it in my mind. We never listneed to music in the house where I grew up (except for me in my room with my record player), but we did watch all the variety shows on TV. It was Lawrence Welk every Saturday night, which gave me an abiding love for the music of the '30 s, '40 s, and '50 s. I also played some classical music as a result of my piano lessons. I started listening to pop radio when I was in junior high, and my dad was really upset with rock n' roll. He made me listen to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. It was on 78 rpms, so I think it took about a half-dozen records to hear it all the way through! However, I did listen (over and over I can still hum most of the entire first movement), and came to love it and classical music. When people say it's boring, they just don't understand the language of the music. Thanks for commenting, Chick.Wishing you a song in your heart,Miss Leslie
