- Iron Maiden's 1986 SOMEWHERE IN TIME contains more than a few highlights, such as the ferocious album opener, "Caught Somewhere in Time," as well as softer singles "Wasted Years" and "Stranger in a Strange Land." And as with the band's preceding studio release, POWERSLAVE, another masterful composition closes the album, in this case the sprawling "Alexander the Great." Departing from the familiar sounds of stellar earlier releases like THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST and PIECE OF MIND, this album explores new musical territory with the addition of synthesizers, while maintaining its trademarks--galloping bass, heavy guitar riffs, and operatic vocals. Though there were some doubts initially, the addition of synthesizers didn't alienate the band's headbanging following. In fact, the change, along with this album's commercial success, was a clear indication of the band's musical progress.

– Customer review on 01/06/2007 Iron Maiden experimented with a more new wave sound on this album and it has to be said it worked. The CD has some excellent tracks, and they are memorable not only for the sound, but for the stories. There is even one song about long distance running, which is mark of the band's skills when they can pull such a mundane subject out and make it a song. For any Maiden fans, this is a CD that has to be in the collection. It is awesome in everyway, even nearly 20 years after its initial release.

– Customer review on 10/04/2007 wow, my Iron Maiden is really one of those amazing and influential bands that have such a powerful fan base, and for a very good reason, as their music is just incredible. it rises and soars, and you are taken on an amazing adventure that will capture you. the songs on this cd never get old either. fave would have to be sea of madness

– Customer review on 28/11/2006 Somewhere contains many a highlight. Both the "do it now" rocker "Wasted Years" and the more melodic "Stranger in a Strange Land" were successful singles/videos, while other prominent tracks included the album-closing epic, "Alexander the Great," the frenzied opener, "Caught Somewhere in Time," and the singalong concert fave, "Heaven Can Wait." Although not quite as substantial as its predecessors (filler crops up here and there), Somewhere in Time succeeded in broadening Maiden's sound without alienating their longtime metal fans.

– Customer review on 25/09/2006 upon relistening to this album again and again, cause i really didnt get why this album was appreciated so much has finally made me see the error of myways, i really underrated this album at first and for a very long time, but now i have really begun to appreciate deja vu, sea of madness, the loneliness of the long distance runner and caught somewhere in time,
i must say i love the bassline on sea of madness.

– Customer review on 20/09/2006 Let me start of by saying, skip the initial track and listen to Wasted years first, or alternatively listen to all the other songs and then listen to wasted years, easily the best track on the album, this album honestly i did not enjoy that much, it is not bad, but i reckon the synths were overdone a bit, but wasted years is such a classically vintage, awesomness.

– Customer review on 21/05/2006 Released in 1986, this is one of Iron Maidens best albums, with great tracks like "Wasted Years", this album is usually forgotten from their collection. Any maiden fans should get this album, everything about this is excellent. I highly reccomend this to any heavy metal fans, the guitar work is the best thing here.

– Customer review on 27/04/2006 Forgotten by alot of people this Maiden album should not go un-noticed. The vocals are great the riffs are great and over all this album is extremely original. Great bass work here too. Again Dickensons vocals assault really adds to the music. One of their best 10/10. Any maiden fan needs this.
