After guitarist Dave Mustaine was booted out of Metallica in 1983, he immediately returned home to San Francisco and formed Megadeth. The new outfit was instantly compared to Mustaine's former band, and the comparisons haven't subsided since. Whereas both outfits shared such musical elements as muted guitar riffs and speedy rhythms, Megadeth's first album seemed to be more influenced by punk and hardcore. KILLING IS MY BUSINESS AND BUSINESS IS GOOD also saw Mustaine's debuting his lead-vocal skills.
Mustaine must have had a lot of pent-up anger to express, since KILLING is simply explosive from beginning to end. The brutal title track lyrically deals with a sniper who revels in hunting down his unsuspecting prey. Nancy Sinatra's hit "These Boots are Made For Walking" is redone as a blinding speed metal ditty. Other highlights include the album opening "Last Rites/Loved to Death" and the pro-heavy metal "Rattlehead." The album-closing "Mechanix" had previously surfaced-as "The Four Horsemen," with different lyrics-on Metallica's debut KILL 'EM ALL. While not as exceptional as Megadeth's subsequent albums, KILLING proves that Mustaine is a survivor.

As a megadeth fan I actually do not like this album, it is very underproduced and the guitar work is a little unoriginal. Dave's vocals sond a little too harsh and out of tune for my liking. THey do a cover of "these boots" which takes everything out of this album that fans are supposed to take seriously. I reccomend everybody stays clear of this.
First studio album by Megadeth and probably their first of anything, this is the remastered as it says, which features horrible CGI graphics, no doubt the handiwork of some deviant art artist.

The 2nd heaviest MegadetH CD right behind "So Far, So Good... So What?" CD.
Not a bad song on this entire CD anywhere.
Many songs have a very early MetallicA feel to them, well that's b/c Dave wrote the good chunk of very early MetallicA's songs, that he never got credit for. But that's another story for another time.

"These Boots" will not sound the same as it was on the original CD, b/c of the band being threatened by a law-suit from the original songwriter, so the band purposely screwed up the song and bleebed out much of the song to avoid a law-suit and by destroying the song, it was also making a joke and a statement to the original song-writer. (Dave explains all of this in the liner-notes in the CD cover).
No reverb sound on this CD, which is very nice. Although there is a lot of reverb sound on the demo songs, but what do you expect? Those demos are about 25 years old.
You are also going to hear some J.S. Bach Classical Music on here too at the beginning of "Last Rites / Loved to Deth" song. Don't freak out and think this is a Classical Music CD b/c the song starts out with J.S. Bach Classical Music.
"Mechanix" is the same song as "4 Horsemen" from MetallicA, but with completely different lyrics. Exact same music, different lyrics.
"This next song can be interpreted 2 ways: You have our way, and you have their (MetallicA's) way. Personally, I perfer our way the best. The next song is Mechanix." (What Dave said at the beginning of "Mechanix" on "Rude Awakening" 2-CD concert set).
You can't go wrong with this CD. You just can't go wrong with the first 4 MegadetH CDs.
The first Megadeth offering re-recorded, re-mastered and re-released. This features cool songs such as "The mechanix" (which is effectively the same riffs as Metallica's four horsemen minus the excellent bridge of that song) and rattlehead. Not as raw and energetic as the earliest of metallica's offerings (Kill em all) but still a lot of fun and some good old 'Deth songs on here for one and all.
This is the best Megadeth album by far, the metal has a raw and funky sound and this album is by far the greatest Megadeth album ever. The first song last rites, loved to death is my favourite megadeth song. I have six of there first albums and although the albums are great in there own way I still believe that this one is still the greatest sounding and easily the most enjoyable album made by Megadeth. This album is a must have and add it to Show no mercy(slayer) and kill em all(Metallica) as the first albums of these 3 great bands.
