There are few musicians whose music has indisputably advanced humanity. Reggae figurehead Bob Marley--a songwriter, poet, activist, and visionary--is one of them. The idea that a single-disc collection could represent the depth, breadth, and power of Marley's achievement is far-fetched, but LEGEND makes an excellent attempt. Every single one of its tracks is outstanding, and the artist's different faces--revolutionary ("Get Up Stand Up"), romantic ("Is This Love"), devout Rastafarian ("Buffalo Soldier"), and prophet ("One Love/People Get Ready") are equally represented.
In addition to his moving message of love and unity, Marley is a master songwriter, as the timelessness of songs like "Stir It Up," "I Shot the Sheriff," and the gorgeous, poignant "Redemption Song" proves. Of course, a true sampling of Marley's output would require some early ska material, the Wailer's debut (CATCH A FIRE), the definitive NATTY DREAD, and his later-period opus EXODUS, but LEGEND provides a highly satisfying, if brief, overview of Marley's genius. A record well suited to any location, season, or time of day, it has proven universal in its appeal. The music herein is as essential as air. (Note: The Deluxe Edition includes two bonus tracks and an additional disc of remixes.)

Anybody, I don't care who you are or how old or young you are, this is a MUST HAVE record if you have any appreciation of music whatsoever. Bob Marley was a genius. He is up there with David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, ....
bob marley, what does that stand for? brilliant reggae, great music, great songs, great entertainment, great fun, great music. you and your whole family will have fun with this bit of great music and reaggae history of bob marley. some of the best reggea songs, probably even the best songs ever written...
Probably the best of Bob Marley in that it has all his well known songs. The production and quality of this stuff is excellent and seems to retain that classic Marley feel perfectly. The songs themselves are a mainly recorded except for “no woman no cry” which is recorded live. This is probably an album that even if you where not a big fan would appreciate having just for those times.
Nothing more really needs to be said, but if you have to, then it is just absolute perfection. Warm up, cool down, chill out, or whatever, this album will do it for you. Bob Marley, assisted by other luminaries such as Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer has produced some musical magic. A fair slab of it is packaged here for a huge does of greatness.
Definitely Bob Marley's best with Buffalo Soldier and No Woman No Cry, Bob Marley nowadays deserves the respect and recognition he deserves, well back then he did too, but no one really got his brilliance worldwide at that point, he has gotten Jamaica's third highest honour and he is currently buried at a mausoleum, a reggae music great, this is the music you play with your girlfriend in the car, chill with your friends, have a cool beer over, a classic album
Everybody knows this one. Legend has got to be the most poular Bob Marley CD on the market. We've had several copies over the years and the music is always great at parties lol. This CD contains some of my fav Bob tunes : could you be loved, Jamming, Redemption Song (love this one so much!) and Get Up Stand Up to name but a few. I highly recommend this one as a top listen. If you don't own a copy then you just better buy one now!
This CD is a collection of Bob's finest work. "No Woman No Cry," "Buffalo Soldier," "Three Little Birds," just to name a few. There are a lot of Bob Marley CD's in circulation, but this is by far one of the best compilations available. If you don't already own it, I highly recommend buying a copy.
