This punky Southern hillbilly band's secret weapon is its front man, the mercurial "Colonel" J.D. Wilkes, who takes no prisoners with his ferocious harmonica playing and raspy vocals. This live album shows the band in its element, performing breathless high-octane rockabilly filtered through a Southern gothic sensibility. But there's a steely professionalism beneath the seeming chaos, with songs like "Rollin' in My Sweet Baby's Arms" and "Ghost Riders in the Sky" propelled by lightning-fast guitar runs as well as Wilkes's deranged yelling.
