Putumayo Kids, an offshoot of the Putumayo clothing company's internationally inspired music label, here presents a relaxing collection of Celtic airs that are intended to soothe and reassure listeners of all ages. Scotland is represented by Mairi MacInnes, Dougie MacLean, Karen Matheson, and the duo of Mairi Campbell and Dave Francis, known to BBC Scotland radio audiences as the Cast. Irish participants are Susan McKeown, Lasairfhiona Ni Chonaola, harpist Aine Minogue, and Seamus Egan, co-founder of the group Solas. Mary Jane Lamond is Scottish by way of her native Cape Breton, and Teresa Doyle of Prince Edward Island has produced numerous releases on her own Bedlam music label. Most of the songs on Celtic Dreamland are sung in gentle tones that suggest the lullaby or the berceuse, with Dougie MacLean's "Goodnight and Joy" registering as most definitively fey. I bought this cd to help my 8mth old baby to sleep during the day and so far it works! The celtic languages are like no-other I have heard before and after a few listens I love this cd and find myself humming the tunes during the day. It has a very relaxed feel and some beautiful lyrics. Highly recommend it.
