Arguably the first psychedelic rock album, REVOLVER was praised for its musical experimentation--the Indian sounds of "Love You To," the Motown-inspired "Got To Get You Into My Life," the backwards guitar in "I'm Only Sleeping." "Tomorrow Never Knows" was the most radical departure from previous Beatles' recordings for its skeletal bass/drums propulsion enhanced only with tape loops (contributed by all four Beatles and added in the mix-down process), more backwards guitar, and an eerie John Lennon vocal.
Still, the Beatles' experimentation grew out of their songwriting, which had matured beyond formula pop. "Tomorrow Never Knows" was inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead, Harrison's "Taxman" was a bitter diatribe, and McCartney's "Eleanor Rigby" was a bleak portrait of loneliness. Balanced with upbeat songs like "Good Day Sunshine" and "Yellow Submarine," REVOLVER proved The Beatles were not mere pop stars, but musical artists in search of new sounds and ideas.

This is one of my favourite Beatles album and the remastered version is even better it gives the music a clear crisp sound many of the songs really benefit from the remastering process Pauls vocals sound even better in Got To Get You Into My Life, and Good Day Sunshine. Once again the album just sounds great.
I absolutely love the Beatles. This is the first cd I brought from the Beatles and I went on to buy records from them as well. This still remains my favourite cd. It shares their political views such as in the ong "taxman" where they sing about the government taking everyone's money even for the most ridiculous reasons. I feel some of their songs are taking the micky but they sound humorous and uplifting. One of my favourites on this album is "Good Day Sunshine" I can't help but smile everytime I hear it which is basically every day, I brought this album months ago but I still listen to it most days. It also includes one of the most popular childrens song by George Harrison "Yellow Submarine" which even makes my little sister (9) like the Beatles. There is not one song I dislike on this album it is one of those cds which you can put on and listen to it right the way through to the end. It will also most likely get you singing along, I sing through the whole cd and only realise half way through the second time that I have already completed the whole album. It's just so enjyable to listen to and ultimately uplifting, I find no matter what happened during the day if I hop into my car and put this album on I have an instant smile.
