Despite the comedic origins of the project, series creator and Berklee School of Music grad Brendon Small puts a surprising amount of effort and craft into making this sound like actual black metal. Sure, the lyrics to songs such as "Murmaider" and "Briefcase Full of Guts" are ridiculous, but no more than actual Norwegian imports, and there's no joke to the punishing riffs, guttural demon vocals, and twisting guitar leads. THE DETHALBUM is clearly the work of people who love heavy metal, for people who love the same. the cd basically contains all the music heard throughout the series. the music is lame, and horridly generic. its a soundtrack. if you are unfamiliar with metalocalypse, this ISN'T a real band. dethklok is that name of the band featured in the cartoon. the whole show makes fun of the metal scene in general, and so does the music lol
