For the six years the Beatles were recording for Capitol Records, the Fab Four ascended to top of the American and British charts an astonishing 27 times. This single-disc compilation brings those hits together in one place to span every phase of the foursome's highly influential career. Early Merseybeat-flavored sides like "Love Me Do" (the band's first Stateside hit), "She Loves You," and "I Want To Hold Your Hand" struck a chord early on with hordes of screaming teens. Unfortunately, this found the band temporarily dismissed as mere teen idols despite these numbers coming as a result of the vaunted Lennon/McCartney songwriting partnership.
The timeless "Yesterday" struck a worldwide chord (and subsequently became one of the most played songs of all time) and Liverpool's favorite sons soon found themselves shifting gears. They were soon dabbling with flower power ("All You Need is Love"), character-driven storytelling ("Eleanor Rigby"), and allowing glimpses behind the Beatles curtain ("Hey Jude," "The Ballad of John & Yoko"). By the time "The Long and Winding Road" became the Beatles' chart-topping swan song, popular music's landscape had been permanently altered.

I bought this CD mainly to play in our busy little corner store. The Beetles where my sisters era and being a child I had fond memories of the sound.
Well the response in the shop has been fantastic, although I cant say the same for our customers singing!! The amazing thing is this music doesnt seem to have a generation as all our customers are enjoying it. Even the dudes in black that play heavy metal music loved it and they were sincere!
So there you go listen, enjoy and dont be suprised if you have a smile on your face and hear some truely awesome/awefull sound that is your voice!
A brilliant collection of Beatles music. Hard-core devotees will have multiple albums, but if you want a good cross-section of "the best of" to play in the car, or just to listen anywhere, this is the album to buy. More of their earlier work than their later material - when they got a bit psychedelic.
incredible cd. love all of the songs on it, especially let it be, come together and 8 days a week. my dad and i always used to listen to it together, its a great memoir of ours, and i know it would be a fantastic pressie for any beatles fan!! love this cd so much, every song is bliss.
Obviously a collection of number one hits from what was probably the first superstar band ever is going to be a must have for the CD collection. The tracks are ordered chronologically and it is interesting to listen to their music mature as time progresses, orchestration becomes more complex and technology more advanced. Highly recommended.
This is was my dads c.d but not anymore. this is one of my favourite artists... this is coming from an 18 year old who listens to tool and deftones. this is a collection of the beatles greatest songs every recorded and far every song is a sing along that just makes you wish you were 18 back when they were alive. highly recommended.
