Performer Notes
  • Fall Out Boy: Peter Wentz, Andrew Hurley, Patrick Strump, Joseph Trohman.
  • Recorded at Smart Studios, Madison, Wisconsin; Gravity, Chicago, Illinois and Rosebud, Skokie, Illinois.
  • Originally released in 2003 and reissued in '05 (shortly before the band's major label debut), Fall Out Boy's first full-length album, TAKE THIS TO YOUR GRAVE, is a remarkably assured initial outing. One of many acts in the early-2000s emo boom, the Illinois ensemble distinguished itself from the pack with tight musicianship and a keen sense of melody. Rather than halfheartedly attempting to cling to its hardcore roots, like some of its peers, Fall Out Boy is simply out to make catchy, affecting rock here, as witnessed through glorious pop-punk moments such as "Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy" and "Saturday." While frontman Patrick Stump's amiable, sensitive-guy vocals are clearly one of the group's selling points, Fall Out Boy also impresses with its inventive guitar work, which even bears metal influences at times (see the Iron Maiden-like lead riffs on "Dead on Arrival"). Although the band would have to wait until FROM UNDER THE CORK TREE for massive success, this album reveals that Fall Out Boy's sound was fully formed years before "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" hit the charts.

fall out boy's first album take this to your grave is a really good listen. the song Saturday is very pleasing to the ears. Where is your boy? is a great pop/ rock song. these guys have really grown up since then. but if you are a fan of fall out boy then you must own this album.

Tell That Mick He Just Made My List Of Things To Do Today is the first track on this album and what a great one it is, my favourite on the cd to be precise. Take this to your grave is yet another fantastic album from emo heavy weight super stars fall out boy who never fail to deliver.

woman i totally disagree with the reviewer below. this cd is awesome, amazing, and incredible, and with one listen you are totally hooked. the songs on here are awesome and have a number of good guest stars on them, such as justin from motion city sound track. i love the last track, the patron saint of liars and fakes, but every song on here is a real winner.

Honestly who in their right mind gives these guys a record deal. They are a true example of the MTV music video money gubbin record producers world of music. I mean these kinds of bands are destroying the music world. I can prove it first of all these guys songs are not meant to appeal to the music fan they are to appeal to girls so that they all will come to their concert and become groupees so they can have sex. They don't feature any instrument whatsoever. There is no such thing as an instrument solo and if there is it's just a rif. And third of all the lead singer for Fall Out Boy sounds excactly like that of Panic! At The Disco. That just goes to show you how copycat the music industry is. In the world of music every great band has a sound that makes them unique from everyone else. They also show off their musical talent alot. Fall Out Boy does not do that which is why I am givnig this 1 star.

this is a really good fall out boy album, bit differewnt to their more commercial from under the cork tree. still the same good fall out boy ness about this album, which is a really good listen if yuo like emotional rock with a bit of a punk edge. this is a really good buy, and is a guaranteed like.

4 of 5 Stars! Customer review on 26/08/2006

in my opinion, take this to your grave is better than their second album from under teh cork tree. take this to your grave has recieved little recognition from people whilst from under the cork tree is the centre of media attention. great songs on here are Grand Theft Autumn / Where Is Your Boy and dead on arrival.

3 of 5 Stars! Customer review on 05/08/2006

i think this is better than their latest album under teh cork tree. this one just seems more fresh and original than their over rated new album. my favourite tracks on the album are Grand Theft Autumn / Where Is Your Boy and dead on arrival. althogh i'm not a massive fan of this album, its pretty good, better than their latest.
