Scotland's Snow Patrol formed in the mid-1990s, united by a love for both American and British alternative rock. Led by singer/guitarist Gary Lightbody, the band recorded two albums for the revered Jeepster label (home of Belle & Sebastian) before signing with A&M Records. FINAL STRAW, the group's major-label debut, finds Snow Patrol expanding its indie-rock guitar-based sound with greater focus on keyboards, strings, and fuller production values (courtesy of Garret Lee). Lightbody's charming vocals and lyrics provide the band's emotional center, as best evidenced on the wistful opener "How to Be Dead" and the slowly building "Run." Although Snow Patrol knows its way around quiet melancholy, the ensemble is also capable of rocking out ("Spitting Games," "Chocolate"), revealing an aesthetic that places the group squarely in the ranks of Coldplay, Travis, and other Britpop luminaries.

snow patrol are a great band. their song spitting games is a very 'educational' song. and the song run is so darn catchy. i love it. this album is a great album to listen to. it so raw and back to basics. these guys have so much potential and shall be round for a while because of their talent. there is so much in them.
snow patrol is a great band and i really like this album of theirs, final straw. like the last reviewer said, if you like death cab for cutie then you may like snow patrol aswell, they're music could be described as a rockier version of death cab's. my favourite tracks on here are chocolate and, my favourite by far, somewhere a clock is ticking.
this is an awesome album, if you're inot such bands as coldplay and death cab for cutie, the this band is probably your style. their tracks stand out as pure indie style rock with amazing vocals and lyrics. my favourite track on here, hands down is 'somewhere a clock is ticking'. my other favourites include 'run', 'chocolate' and 'spitting games'. this is a mst for your cd collection.
wicked cd by snow patrol, whose lyrics are just so amazing and heartfelt! i love this album, and know of many many others who do to. my fave track is run, as it is so emotional! i always put it on repeat as it is just amazing to listen to. others on here are just as good!
