  • NEVERMIND raised groundbreaking Seattle grunge trio Nirvana to the status of Godhead, forever changing the face of the pop music market. Punk energy and aesthetic ("Territorial Pissings," "Drain You") are its lifeblood; pop melody, harmony, and structure ("Something In The Way," "Come As You Are") its selling points; Kurt Cobain's roaring guitars and subconscious intellect ("Smells Like Teen Spirit," "In Bloom") its heart and soul. Nobody had come up with an album like NEVERMIND before, because no one could conceive of an album like it--not since Husker Du had broken up, anyway.
  • But the place where NEVERMIND struck the most firmly and personally was in the gut. Cobain's throaty roar, mumbled speech, and fumbled appearance all confirmed to his audience that he was of and for them, even as his gift for combining unforgettable melodies with acerbic insights showed that he was utterly unique. "Here we are now, entertain us" may have come and gone as a catch-phrase, but as an insight into a generation's bitterly restless tide, it ranks right up there with "I can't get no satisfaction."
  • A few years after the matter, even the album cover appears vaguely symbolic: an innocent babe, braving the hazards, lunging for the seductive prize at the end of a hook. Few would've given good odds that the youngster would actually be able to snatch the green, swim back to shore, and laugh triumphantly in the fisherman's face; and history has made fools of those who thought it couldn't be done. NEVERMIND not only gave Nirvana the prize the band had reached out for, it included some epic consequences in the bargain--raising the Seattle grunge trio to the status of Godhead, and forever changing the face of the pop music market.
  • As ground-breaking albums go, NEVERMIND seemed expressly designed for a post-modern existence. The punk energy and aesthetic ("Territorial Pissings," "Drain You") were its lifeblood; melody, harmony and structure ("Something In The Way," "Come As You Are") were its selling points; the roaring guitars and sub-conscious intellect ("Smells Like Teen Spirit," "In Bloom") were its heart and soul. • But the place where NEVERMIND struck the most firmly and personally was in the gut. Cobain's throaty roar, mumbled speech, fumbled appearance all confirmed that he was of us, with us, and for us; his gift for combining melodies with acerbic insights showed that he was unlike us. "Here we are now, entertain us" may have come and gone as a catch-phrase, but as an insight into a generation's bitterly restless tide, it ranks right up there with "I can't get no satisfaction."

usually, im not really too fussed on nirvana, but i gave it a chance when one of my friends played it,. and i found that i really enjoyed it! they are a really incredible, legendary band, and i think that this cd is a must listen to and must buy for all fans of the amazing rock band nirvana! definite 5 star-er!

Another great album from one of the best and most influential bands in history. Consisting of some of their best songs, this is definitely one of their best. I enjoyed the majority of the tracks on here, but felt some were lacking. In spite of this is still a must have album to any Nirvana fan and for the great price you can’t go wrong.

funny how hearing a song or album transports you to a certain place and time. For me, Nevermind means going back to '95, standing in the living room of my very grotty share house on the outskirts of greater London, ironing my hotel uniform with the volume pumping. Hmmmmmm

one of the greatest bands ever...i can remember clearly as a six year old my mother and her boyfriends actually playing this album over and over along with the chilly peppers...1991-92 was such a gritty year for some reason and everything was raw. Thats what you get with this album..pure raw undiluted grunge, the best songs for me are come as you are, and smells like teen spirit..definitly worth adding to the collection

This is grunge at its best. A man who wears women's dresses to frighten away untrue fans, was once a janitor at his own school, lives like a homeless person and dies of a drug overdose. This is grunge at its truest.
All of the tracks are fantastic, melancholic pieces with the right amounts of tragedy, rage and sadness.
Not for the faint hearted.
This band has gone down in rock history as one of the greatest, not just for the music but for the legacy of all that was Cobain.

5 of 5 Stars! Customer review on 18/12/2006

Nirvana are one of the greatest bands of all time, lead by musical legend and musical genius Kurt Cobain. I think Nevermind is the best ever Nirvana album, it contains, what i consider to be the bands two greatest songs: Smells like teen spirit and come as you are. I dont know of many cds that are better than this!

5 of 5 Stars! Customer review on 13/12/2006

Nevermind is the album that changed music and music world forever. apart from its obvious fashion statements of the whole grunge thing the album is actually still an incredible sounding mesh of ingenuis songwriting and catchy chords. You probably have heard this album a billion times without even knowing it so it makes it hard to want to actually buy it.

5 of 5 Stars! Customer review on 01/12/2006

This is one of the albums that changed the way I listened to music forever. In my mind it was the album that diverted hard rock from what it was and opened up the way for grunge and a different way of creating music. In my opinion it is also Nirvana’s most realized work and captures the essence of a period of time on this planet. Excellent stuff.

5 of 5 Stars! Customer review on 27/11/2006

Nevermid is a classic album which i love it has everything. Nirvana were the greatest band ever and its a shame that kurt died because i think that nirvana would have produced an album better than nevermind because they a capable of that. if kurt was still around now nirvana would rule the world R.I.P Kurt.

5 of 5 Stars! Customer review on 03/11/2006

I remember when I heard this first. At a party, at a mate's place. Had a couple of stubbies, was feeling happy. Had heard of them, some other people were raving about it.

Someone had the tape. They put it on, I was blown away by how good it was.

Sheer, unadulterated breakout rock genius. An absolute must have album.
