  • Recorded at Rumbo Studios, Canoga Park, California; Take One Studio, Burbank, California; Can Am Studio, Tarzana, California.
  • Already a legend in its own meagre lifetime, this startling debut shrouded itself in controversy, from its original Robert Williams artwork to Axl Rose's unblinking accounts of LA's underbelly. This mawkish storytelling, combined with a brattish collective swagger and a surprisingly mature approach to their songs, guaranteed Guns N' Roses a speedy notoriety that was to serve their legend brilliantly. From the laconic "Paradise City" to the achingly beautiful "Sweet Child O' Mine," or the furious "Welcome To The Jungle," the record brims with a brutal integrity. An album they could never surpass even if they had stayed together.

Best album ever. Any artist would want to have a debut album like this, has sold over 16 million albums and with good reason. Every song on here is amazing, there are no fillers like most albums tend to have. My absolute favourite song off here is "Rocket Queen". It shows both sides of Guns N'Roses going from hard, sleazy rock to a softer "we're not so crazy"side like "Sweet child o mine" and "Think about you". It would be amazing to see the original five back together, they would be the biggest band in the world still just like in the early nineties.

Metal fan or not, you can't help but recognize an album like this. Not a bad song, not a dull moment and one of my faves. This disk gets a better rating than The Queen is Dead, and that's coming from a Smiths fan :) 10/10:nelly (the ariels) Charly Dee ScotlandWhat do you get if you put 3 smack heads, an ex smack head and a petty criminal with psyciatric needs into a dingy, shit hole of a flat in downtown L.A? Appetite for Destruction, thats what! And Christ it's good! Almost makes ya wanna try some of that stuff eh? Sweet Child is the commercial stand out but It's so Easy and Paradise City make ya wanna Rock out man!!!Make ya wanna sway in your straight jacket just like Mr Rose!

Rock n Roll was dying, Metal though still wasnt dying but going strong, people were worried about poser bands that had already hit the scene, it's 1987, loyal fans to rock n roll are left in the cold, will there be a saviour? Yes! Guns n Roses with this record

no doubt at the time, whether you were a rock fan or not, this album got you off your ass and got you headbanging, Welcome to the jungle, ladies and gentlemen. Riffing, and wow the vocals! brilliance, doesnt stop there, Nightrain showcases Izzy's and Slash's pure talent, Axl Rose remember throughout this album has a very strong vocal performance.

Paradise City, another classic, and ofcourse Sweet Child of Mine, that orgasmic lick, that drew fans of all other genres to hear maiden, a beautiful song, a classic, never forgotten

appetite for destruction is probably one of guns n roses most well known album as it contains the monsterous hits welcome to the jungle, paradise city and sweet child o' mine. the other songs on here are just as good so if you're a pretty big fan but don't have this album then i highly recommend it

This CD is absolutley brilliant. (though I may be a little bias being a big fan of GNR myself) Slash is an awesome guitar player and pulls off some great work on this album, accompanied well by the vocals of Axl. The bands presence in this album is really stunning with some of their well known classics like Welcome to the Jungle and Sweet Child of Mine. I give it 5 out of 5. A real must have album.

The album that shows off GNR's talent at the peak of their life together. This album is my favorite and has all the great hits like Welcome To The Jungle. Slash is amazing on this album so is the rest of the band. But the highlights are defiantley his powerful Solos and Riffs.

5 of 5 Stars! Customer review on 03/05/2006

by far my favorite Guns n' Roses Cd but i have the origonal cover of the girl that had just been raped mint album great little booklet and has some of there best material on this album slash has some killer solos in the songs nad yea you have got to buy this because this is such a great Cd A++++

5 of 5 Stars! Customer review on 02/05/2006

Every single member of this band does an awesome job at making this album absolutely rule!

The guitar riffs are awesome with great guitar solo's, which help make the songs seem more epic and adds more originallity. The drumming is average (I couldn't care for drumming on any cd, unless it was Cryptopsy or something where it really stands out). The vocals are really unique, great use of falsetto.

4 of 5 Stars! Customer review on 26/04/2006

This is by far my favourite Guns n Roses cd. It is brilliant Slash is an excellent guitarist...as always and the drums in this cd are pure brilliance Axl Rose is a good singer but i dont think he was the real talent in the band. Appetite for destruction has great songs on it such as: sweet child of mine, knockin on heavens door, anything goes, its so easy and Civil War.
