Performer Notes
  • Guns N' Roses: W. Axl Rose (vocals, piano, synthesizer, percussion, programming); Slash (acoustic & electric guitars, 6-string bass); Izzy Stradlin (guitar, percussion, background vocals); Dizzy Reed (piano, keyboards, background vocals); Duff McKagan (bass, background vocals); Matt Sorum (drums, background vocals); Steven Adler (drums).
  • Additional personnel includes: Shannon Hoon, Michael Monroe (vocals); Gilby Clarke, Mike Staggs, Paul Huge (guitar); Matthew McKagan, Rachel West, Robert Clark, Jon Trautwein (horns); Stuart Bailey, Reba Shaw, The Waters (background vocals).
  • Hard-rock juggernauts Guns 'N' Roses arrived as rock & roll saviors in a dark time of generic hair metal and bloated pop. With only five studio albums to draw from (one being the all-covers SPAGHETTI INCIDENT), nearly a third of the material on GREATEST HITS is unsurprisingly devoted to other people's songs. Inclusions range from a dramatic version of Bob Dylan's "Knockin' On Heavens Door" and an outsized take on Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die" to punk classic "Ain't It Fun" and doo-wop nugget "Since I Don't Have You."
  • The band's original songs, however, are the heart of G'N'R's appeal. Start with the quintessential heavy-rock anthem "Welcome to the Jungle." Amid the thunderous time-keeping and tasty riffing are slinky grooves, sexy swagger, and quite an aura of danger. The acoustic "Patience" found these tattooed bad boys showing off a softer side, while archetypal power-ballad "Sweet Child O' Mine" is a perfect hybrid of sentiment and soaring guitar solos. Think of GREATEST HITS as a sampler for the sumptuous buffet that is G'N'R's recorded oeuvre.

An excellent album consisting of some of their best songs, a great complication. I enjoyed the majority all of the tracks on here, but felt some of their best work was missing. In spite of this is still a must have to any fan and for the great price you can’t go wrong. The best

Guns and Roses Greatest Hits CD is really their greatest hits. All well known songs that everybody loves. Worth the time nadm oney for such a good CD. It has a mix of heavey and more slow songs. Including Welcom to the jungle or Knockn on Hevens Door. Comes with 12 songs and all them rock. Guns and Roses is ausum!

A fantastic collection of Guns N Roses biggest hits. Even non-fans would know at least four of the songs on this CD.

I am dissapointed with the addition of the covers on this CD though-I would have rather their own songs were included. Anyone can do covers!!

I was quite impressed with this compilation; it defintely has some awesome hits on it. 'Welcome to the Jungle' and 'Paradise City' are perfect examples of GN'R's down-and-dirty rock, whereas 'Sweet Child O' Mine' and 'Patience' show the band's softer side - proving them not only about sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. (Which, don't get me wrong, they mostly were.)
I was a bit confused as to why 'Estranged' (Use Your Illusion II) was not on here - it's a sure greatest hit (and no swearing either, for the censoring).
But all in all, a great CD.

Their are a lot of Gunners fans out their and unfortunately I am not one of them. I am on the occasion however, partial to a bit of Sweet Child of Mine, November Rain and Paradise City. A band that is too lazy to write "And" is never a good thing in my opinion. Plenty of attitude in this one.

slash, slash, slash... enough to buy this album already?!?! mixed up with some of axles rocker songs like paradise city, but then has some more emotional hits like november rain (the rock radio station's listeners top song 2005) and songs like don't cry (the original). my favourite though has to be 'civil war' just old rock with a tint of sadness in it. blimm'n good listen that i definately recommend.

An excellant compilation of the hits of this great rock band, it is sure to keep even the biggest fan happy. Recordings from various cds spanning their career, this cd set is the perfect way to get all those great songs at once. I highly recommend this for any Guns and roses fan, and even just any fan of this style music!

Throw out the Stones cover, and put Used To Love Her on this cd, and I'd rate it higher, I think. Still, these boys produced a lot of good songs. Really, unless you want this collection, this might well be all you need to keep you going and scratch that Gunners itch. A very strong collection of tracks, unlike some that are called Greatest Hits.

i really enjoyed buying this cd it was very good because i had a very long plane trip that day and this cd kept me going for a good portion of that . i liked most of the songs on this because they were all classics from the first time they were heard

AHHH Finally... a good greatest hits album, particularly intended not for Guns n Roses 'fans' but just listeners, it's no doubt a good album, a very good cover(plain) yet looks collectable, pretty much every hit by GnR is on this, this album is good for people who are sure they dont want to buy all the GnR albums, enjoyable cd.
