In the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic, WALK THE LINE, the film's creators took the risk of having the stars perform their own vocals, and it's a gamble that paid off surprisingly well. Joaquin Phoenix's take on the country icon is impressive; though he lacks the deft delivery of Cash on the opening "Get Rhythm," the actor does capture the spirit of the Man in Black without resorting to mimicry, particularly on "Cry Cry Cry," which faithfully replicates his vintage Sun Records sound. Although musician Shooter Jennings is clearly the most comfortable contributor to the soundtrack, singing "I'm a Long Way from Home" by his father, Waylon (whom he portrays in the movie), actress Reese Witherspoon steals the show with her vibrant performances as June Carter Cash, particularly on the twangy "Juke Box Blues" and "Jackson," Carter's signature duet with her husband. While those who enjoyed WALK THE LINE should seek out the original recordings by Cash and Carter Cash, this collection makes an enjoyable and fitting companion piece to the film. This album is excellent, Joaquin and Resse do a fantastic job singing as Johnny and June. A great soundtrack from an absolutely awesome movie. I really recommend this album to anyone who loves the man in black

Hmmm the movie is seriously not as good as johnny cash's music. so even if you didn't enjoy the movie, don't discard this soundtrack as johnny cash is a legend and the music is awesome. But if you were going to get johnny cash's music go buy his albums as they are better and have more respect value for you.

The thing I relaly like about this album is the fact that Joaquin Phoenix and REese Witherspoon actually sing their own songs on here. In so many films the actors and actresses just lip sinc over someone elses singing but it just made the movie so authentic when they sang it themselves.
LIke other reviewers have said, its not often that a great movie lends itself to a great soundtrack, but this certainly did!

This is a great movie and, as with a lot of great movies, it has an almost equally impressive soundtrack. Each track takes you back to a favourite scene in the film (of which there were many for me) and if you close your eyes you can replay the whole film, just listening to the soundtrack.

This is a really awesome buy! The stars themselves sing on this album, whcih really adds to the enjoyment and authenticity of the whole thing. People of all ages can enjoy this, as my whole family really does, and we all like to sing along to many of the more up tempo songs, such as "I Walk The Line". Great buy, even if you have yet to see the movie.

watched the dvd last night with a 14 year old teenager- he is into Eminem.We BOTH really enjoyed the dvd-neither of us are into country, either. I was very impressed with Reese and Joaquin's singing. They do exceedingly well for not being singers. This is a more than adequate soundtrack cd to listen especially as it's not other voices singing but the lead roles from the movie.

the walk the line soundtrack really reflects the movies theme and atmosphere. alot of the music on here is the actors from the movie themselves that provie the vocals. Joaquin Phoenix often does a good job with delivering johnny cash classics such as i walk the line and ring of fire. i'm not sure whether massive johnny cash fans would like this album thoguh, they may not like the alternative vocals from joaquin phoenix. its a good soundtrack though

The Walk The Line Soundtrack is a great peice of msuice to listen to. Keeps you listening for hours. All of the song are greta not like other sound tracks where you only have 1 or 2 good songs all of the songs on this song track are great to listen to. Recommended for anyone
