  • Where Avenged Sevenfold's debut, SOUNDING THE SEVENTH TRUMPET, announced their unique metalcore sound, their follow-up, WAKING THE FALLEN, perfects it. The band manages to sound both more melodically accessible-drawing on classic metal and dark, Alice in Chains-like harmonies-and more punishing-wielding a death metal-influenced crunch. The writing and performances are stepped up, too, yielding an album that consistently matches its sonic architecture with memorable vocal melodies and dizzying guitar leads.
  • The title track opener invites the listener in with its ominously atmospheric feel, setting the stage for the pummeling to come on tracks like "Unholy Confessions" and "Reminissions." Frontman M. Shadows alternates between throat-shredding screams and hook-laden melody lines with ease, while the band's dual lead guitar attack offers up no shortage of grinding riffs and solos spilling over with superhuman technique. Add to these a rhythm section capable of splitting skulls, and one is left with an album of undeniable power.

This album is a true metal album with strong vocals and amazing guitar riffs. If you are a fan, you will truly enjoy this album.

Personally, this album is not my favourite from this band but having said that, Avenged Sevenfold are an extremely talented and rockin band.
Check out this album for some examples of their great drumming.

im loving some of the reviwers of the avenged sevenfolds albums, he bought the Cd when in his opinion everything else by the band sucked, how many people are stupid enough to do that? especially when the other 2 albums were released before and after this one, but in all honesty this is a good CD not great but much better than the sounding the seventh trumpet album, unholy confessions and eternal rest rocks

This is an o k album, wakign the fallen sertainly has its high monments but its not the best avenged sevenfold ive heard, the best being a city of evil, stil it has its good moments like And All Things Will End, unholy confessions and second heart beat, has osme catchy tunes in there and the guitaring is ok

Hoping Avenged Sevenfold had gotten better and actually had something "metal" in their music, I bought this. This is no better than any of their other albums, as a matter of fact, it is probably worse. No good songs, every single song sucks, the vocals are poppy, the guitar riffs are annoying and the drumming is boring.

This is a great cd! It has many great songs but my favourites would have to be Unholy Confessions and I won't see you tonight pt1. I wasn't that big a fan of Avenged Sevenfold before i heard this album and now i'm lovin them! I would recomend it to anyone as long as your into hardcore stuff. However i don't think this album would be suitable for anyone who likes bands such as simple plan because Avenged will be to heavy for you after al simple plan is hardly even heavy enough to be rock.
