About the Author

The late Perry D. Slocum, founder of Slocum Water Gardens and Perry's Water Gardens, earned an A.B. degree in biology from Cornell University in 1935. He held U.S. patents for several lotuses and hardy waterlilies and was one of the most important breeders of aquatic plants. In 1986 the International Water Lily Society presented him with the Water Lily Hall of Fame Award, making him the first living person to be so honored. His nature photographs won more than 150 international awards, and he was elected an associate of the Photographic Society of America for his outstanding work in wildlife photography. Slocum died in late 2004, after completing his work on Waterlilies and Lotuses, his last book.

Reviews

The book is valuable just for its 325 stunning color photographs, the most helpful and informative way to identify and differentiate the many cultivars of waterlilies and lotus introduced over the years. Add this one to your library and give it a well-positioned place on your bookshelf, since you'll consult it often. -- Greg Speichert Water Gardening 20050610
