Mark Carwardine is a self-confessed whale addict, never happier than when rubbing shoulders with one of his whale friends. A zoologist, writer and photographer, he spent many years working for several conservation organisations (WWF in England; UNEP in Kenya; and IUCN in Switzerland) before going freelance in 1986. He is the author of many wildlife and travel books and contributes to a variety of radio and TV programmes on natural history.
